Our shelters play a vital role in saving the lives of dogs like this one every single day. Not more than 6 months old, this puppy was found tied to a pole, with no food or water on a 90 degree day. The problem is not the shelter, it's the people who think treating animals like this is acceptable.
He hopes today is the day he finds a family of his own.
Day in and day out, amazing dogs are overlooked at shelters because of their breed, color or age. Instead of judging each dog as an individual, with their own unique personality, people select dogs based on a popularized look or avoid dogs based on media-driven stereotypes.
Hudson is one of those amazing dogs that continued to be overlooked. He's black. He's not a puppy. And he's a Pit Bull. But if we look past all of this, we see an amazing dog that knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, walks well on a leash, plays with but doesn't destroy his toys, and gets along with other dogs. Given that description, who wouldn't want this dog?!
SNAP (Spay & Neuter Action Project) provides low cost spay and neuter services in communities around San Diego in hopes of lowering the number of unwanted pet pregnancies.

Try taking a dog on a walk when you know it will be their last.
This was Macy's last walk.
Macy spent five years having litter after litter, likely making her owner thousands of dollars. Not only are shelters across the country are bursting at the seams with Pit Bulls waiting for homes but dogs that are not spayed or neutered often have a whole host of health problems.
The shelter tried for months to help Macy, but they simply could not cure her.
On Macy's last day she spent time in the play yard with her favorite staff and volunteers, went on a walk and got to indulge in hotdogs.
Rest easy, sweet girl.
